Study design
It has been being known that HIV patients have now a long life span due to a better medicine and treatment. This causes them to have a chronic disease the same as normal people. However, a non-communicable diseases (NCD) occurrence has often been found in the early life in the HIV patients. It is said that the occurrence of this disease is 20 years faster in the HIV patients than in the normal people due to the HIV mechanism. This mechanism maybe vascular inflammation from HIV disease or dyslipidemia from HIV treatment medicine or other mechanism that prone to coronary artery disease. So, this study is a cohort study which will study the incidence of PAD by following up a cohort of 1000 HIV patients. This study will be the first big study in Thailand. The study data will reveal how big of the incidence and risk factors of PAD in the HIV patients.
