Study design
We hypothesized that calf muscle exercise addition to standard compression therapy could help reduce venous ulcer size and accelerate wound healing. A randomized control trial (RCT) study was conducted. Patients were randomized to supervised exercise and compression therapy or compression therapy alone. Both groups were assessed for ulcer healing, inflammation, ankle joint range of motion, calf muscle strength, and calf muscle endurance, respectively.
