Study design
A cross-sectional proposes to study the risk factors related to cardiovascular disease in 100 healthy male-to-female (MtF) transsexuals receiving cross-sex hormone therapy (CSHT) and 100 MtF transsexuals or men not receiving CSHT at PIMAN Center, Chiang Mai, Thailand. A pilot study will be performed using a questionnaire and face-to-face interview to collect demographic, health data, chronic venous disease quality of life questionnaire (CIVIQ-20), and food frequency questionnaire for each consenting subject, including a review of any medical records available at PIMAN Center to verify drug regimens. Non-invasive arterial examinations will be undertaken, and include carotid intima thickness (CIMT), ankle-brachial index (ABI), cardio-ankle vascular index (CAVI), blood pressure, heart rate and pulse wave velocity. Blood samples collected via venipuncture will be used to determine the cardiovascular risk markers.
Study period
