Thailand HIV/AIDS and Infectious Disease Clinical Trials Unit (THAI CTU) is a clinical trials unit that conducting research studies on HIV/AIDS and Infectious Diseases. It is a collaboration between Chiang Mai University Research Institute for Health Sciences and the Thai Red Cross AIDS Research Center.
THAI CTU is the only institute in the Southeast Asia Region that was awarded from the U.S. National Institutes of Health (US-NIH) for 7- year grant (2013 to 2020) to serve as a Clinical Trials Unit and directly received funding from the U.S. Federal government.
Now, THAI CTU is comprised of 3 Clinical Research Sites (CRSs). 2 CRSs are located in Chiang Mai including Chiang Mai University HIV Treatment CRS (CMU HIV Treatment CRS) focuses on conducting research on treatment for people living with HIV/AIDS and Chiang Mai University HIV Prevention CRS (CMU HIV Prevention CRS) focuses on conducting research on prevention of HIV infection and 1 CRS located in Bangkok; Thai Red Cross AIDS Research Center Treatment CRS (TRC-ARC Treatment CRS) focuses on treatment for people living with HIV/AIDS.
